Election Results
ELECTION RESULTSAs I write this entry on Election Day 2008, I'm reminded of something John F. Kennedy said: "Liberty without learning is always in peril; learning without liberty is always in vain."
And, so it is with achieving success in your life. I have always believed that life is about creating options. When I think of the word options in the context of this discussion, I see the word as synonymous with the word, liberty. Working hard to create options in your life provides you the liberty to live your life as you choose.
But, to create enough options to sustain the liberty of freedom of choice you have to be aware of the possibilities. To become aware of all the possibilities requires learning on your part. Yes, the old cliché, "Knowledge is power," is definitely true in this context. Without learning your options will be in peril.
In summary, the final "results" of the success you experience in life will be directly driven by the "election" of the options you have created through your constant learning. So, I ask you: At the end of your life, what will be your "election results?"
