Confucius Says

I know...it's a cop-out. My intent for this blog is, in the vast majority of posts, to provide my own, original thoughts concerning some topic. The key focus is to provide the reader inspiration enough to act in some way. But, every so often I come across something that someone else has said that is so simple, striking and on point that I cop-out and restate the thought.
Such is the case with this post. The Chinese teacher and philosopher Confucius was the founder of the school of philosophy known as the Ju or Confucianism, which is still very influential in China. It is estimated he was born in 551 B.C.E. and died around 479 B.C.E. Even having lived in such a distant past his teaching still can have major impact on those of us living today.
Try this Confucius thought on for size: "By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
Here's the bottom line as the thought relates to your ultimate success in life. Don't allow the bitterness of experience and easy imitation take away from the noble reflection that can be a wise you.

I really like this practice of distributing great information more widely. You have so much great content that it's easy for you to think it's a cop-out to re-quote someone else's information... but I think it's a wonderful idea to restate and then add your own ideas to existing information. I appreciate hearing all your great original information AND your thoughts on information that already exists in cyberspace!
