I'm Always Astonished

I invest a great amount of my time in the study of what makes some people consistent achievers and others not.  I've been fascinated by the differences between people in that regard since I was a little boy.  I can remember sitting in more than one classroom and looking at my classmates and wondering why some got elected to class monitor and others only wished they could.  I, for one, always wanted to be elected the class patrolman and be able to wear one of those little white belts that went with the job.  I know...I'm dating myself but humor me, won't you?

Anyway, my fascination carried over into my work and here I am decades later writing a blog dedicated to my readers' self-development.  But, all my study has proven one overriding truth about the key to self-actualization for anybody.  Yes, there are lots of considerations to true self-actualization but none of the others can be a factor if this one truth doesn't exist.

Gandhi summarized it best when he said:  "Live as if you were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever."  Lifelong learning is the single most important key to self-actualization.  In other words, when you think you know it all is the moment you begin to know nothing.

I'm always astonished when people don't understand that fact.
